Computer Architecture

A Grade 11 Information & Communication Technology textbook for Term 1. Ten weekly chapters covering computer administration, troubleshooting, electronic components, installation and timing — matched to benchmarks 11.5.1.1 – 11.5.1.2.

Preface

Term 1 is about what a computer is and how we keep it running. We start with the person who looks after computers — the system administrator — and learn the routine tasks and troubleshooting steps that stop small faults from turning into big ones. Then we open the case and get to know the tiny electronic parts inside every motherboard: resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors and ICs.

Each chapter has an essential question, a short reading, a hands-on activity, and review questions. From Week 7 onwards you also get printable student worksheets and matching assessment rubrics for your term project and exam.
